Every night around supper time one of us goes outside to close the door to the chicken coop. The chickens go in around dark on their own and roost for the night.

The other day when Trey went out before supper to shut the coop door he was surprised to find all four hens roosting right outside on the railing of the deck! It turned out that he had inadvertently shut the door in the afternoon. Unable to get into their home, they headed up on our deck to find a comfortable spot to sleep for the night.
