General Coffee State Park

The second park we visited last Saturday is named after the US congressman and military leader John E. Coffee. Coffee is most famous for creating the “Coffee Road” to carry munitions of war to the Florida Territory to fight the Indians during the Creek War.

This park has some nature trails, a lake you can canoe on, and a large “Heritage farm” with livestock and cottages furnished with antiques from the early 1900s. As expected, Trey loved the farm and spent a lot of time talking to the goats and donkeys. There was a very large turkey that followed him up and down the fence trying to peck at him. Trey would just shout at it “No turkey! Go away!”
