Helping Friends Prepare for Christmas

Heidi was on call one night so some friends invited Trey and me over for dinner. Before the delicious meal we helped them put up their tree. The kids really enjoyed taking on the task. I think Trey was most excited that I let him climb the 8-foot ladder to put ornaments up high. Once he realized he was allowed to do that he didn’t put another ornament on below the five foot mark.

Sunday School Christmas Party

A couple weeks before Christmas Trey’s Sunday School class teachers had a nice little party at their home and invited the class over. The kids ran wild in the yard for a while then came in for crafts and Christmas themed snacks.

Their teacher ended with a devotional where each kid pulled a figure from a nativity set and talked about its role in the Christmas story. It was neat to see how the kids enjoyed having their turn in the spotlight and how seriously they took the task. Nice touch.

Our 2011 Christmas Photo

With all the holiday insanity, we actually took our “official Christmas photo” after Christmas (just a day late). Heidi had the idea to use the box & letters that had been a part of our Christmas video this year.

2011 Jensen Family Photos

Heidi worked the Christmas holiday so we had to wait until the week of New Year’s to head down to her family’s place in Florida. The good news was all her siblings were in town so she got some great family time.

We also got to spent a lot of time with Atticus, the newest addition to the clan. Trey felt really special getting to hold the fragile little dude in his lap.

As usual, when the whole gang is around you have to document it with the annual group photos. Here they are:

Greeneville’s Armless Mannequin

Since the nineties, I can always remember seeing this old armless mannequin peering out of a second story window of an abandoned general store off Fish Hatchery road between Morristown and Greeneville, TN. We’d pass it every time I’d go to my aunt’s farm.

Last month Trey and I passed it again and she’s still there! Her bra and wig have been updated but she’s still there staring off into the sunset.

Cheese Lover

In December we splurged a bit on some fancy cheeses. Morbier, Gouda, Roquefort, Brie, Camembert, Goat Cheese, and more. I’m proud that my son loves that delicacy *almost* as much as I do.
