Little Ocmulgee State Park

After what seemed like an entire week of rain and cold weather, Trey and I finally got back outdoors. Today we went on a rampage and hit 3 different state parks. We’ll post photos from each over the next couple days.

The first park we visited was Little Ocmulgee which is about 1 1/2 hours southeast of Macon. This park’s main attraction is its golf course and it doesn’t have any famous landmarks or a very unique history. It is yet another CCC project from back in the 1930s, and is named after the river that runs through it.

It does have a beautiful lake and some interesting geology around it. We hiked about 2 miles and saw the scenery change from woods, to sandy soil with low lying brush, and then to a cypress and oak swamp.
