Thawed Out & Up’n'Running

A week ago today, we moved from Seminole, FL to our new home in Macon, GA. I’ve always hosted this blog and all my other sites from a server at my house. So during the move we had to cancel our Florida internet service, move the server to Georgia, and sign up for a new internet service.

Two things went wrong.

The Big Backyard

Our new backyard is pretty big like the one we had in Florida. The biggest difference is that it has lots of trees and big rocks in it. Trey loves climbing on the rocks. He’s pretty steady on his feet but a couple times he’s pulled rather large rocks down when trying to climb on them. Makes us a bit nervous – those cute little toes of his don’t need to get smashed. He seems to be learning pretty quick what he can and can’t do though.

Another great new feature to our new house is the large deck. Heidi’s parents got us a table and chairs for the deck and we’ve enjoyed eating just about every meal out there. Talk about great for Trey! If he spills something – there’s no need to get out a broom or mop. Nice!

The Move to Macon

Our final move to Macon, GA took place just before Memorial Day weekend. On Wednesday night, 3 amazing guys from church (Chip Meyer, Matt Tilka, and Tyler Ross) came over and helped me load the U-Haul. Trey went over to the Jensens’ to spend the night. The next morning Heidi and I left our Florida home and drove to Macon with the U-Haul and car loaded to the max.

That night the two of us unloaded the U-Haul on our own (since we don’t know anyone in Macon). It only took us about 4 hours (and that includes moving a sofa, king-size bed, washer, and dryer upstairs!).

The next day Heidi’s parents drove up with Trey. He was very excited to explore his new house. We made sure that his room was completely set up so that he would feel right at home. It worked, and he was extremely happy. Especially when we walked down the road to the clubhouse playground and lake front. Slides! Swings! Woohoo!

Something Missing…

Trey without pacifier on the planeTrey loved his pacifier (remember the alligator incident?) Now that we weaned him from nursing, we wanted to break him of the pacifier habit sometime soon. I wouldn’t recommend our “oh, no! I didn’t pack any pacifiers for the plane ride to Colorado” method, but once we got over the initial whining and crying during the first leg of our trip to CO, we decided we couldn’t go back. He asked for it almost every day at nap and bed time, but only for the first week. He’s mostly forgotten it now. We looked all around the house when we got home to throw away extras. This morning he found a pacifier keeper (connects the pacifier to the baby’s clothes) and started to look around for a paci. I distracted him with a ball and he was satisfied. The end of another era in the life of Trey.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

…and Auntie Annie, and Great-Gramma Jensen!

We just got back from Macon and went straight to Heidi’s parents’ house for the annual triple birthday party for me, Annie, and Mama Jensen. I turned 28, Annie turned 26, and Mama turned 82.

Trey helped us blow out our candles and discovered the simple joy of licking each candle after removing it from the cake.
