Heidi’s cousin Brett Weber sent Trey his winning t-shirt design as a “welcome-back-from-africa” present. He couldn’t have made a more appropriate design since the boy on the bed is reading an Africa book and an elephant (Trey’s current #2 favorite animal) is under the bed.
You can order one of these sweet t-shirts designed by Brett over at Threadless.com. Or visit the Young Explorer’s Society (YES!) blog for more art and some randomness.
Thanks a ton Brett!
Oh, current #1 favorite animal – HIPPO
Nerd rockers They Might Be Giants have done it again! They’ve put out another great kids album that serves as a sequel to 2005’s Here Come the ABCs. We bought that DVD for my brother and I think we liked it as much as him (if not more even more).
Trey has been listening to the new Here Come the 123s and likes to dance around to it. It isn’t your normal kids album with cheesy MIDI effects and lullabies. This is some serious rock!
If you have a kid under the age of 7 you should seriously check these albums out. Head over to Amazon.com they’ll let you listen to samples of some of the songs. Below is a video from the new album:
Now that Trey is older he enjoys playing outside a lot more. This has given me a chance to work on my garden a bit more than in the past. Since we traveled so much this winter I’ve gotten a late start on planting but I’m still giving it a try.
I’ve got a much more varied crop this year. Tomatoes, carrots, jalapeños, radishes, lettuce, spinach, snap peas, chives, basil, oregano, and parsley. I’m going to also give broccoli and onions a try. Hopefully it isn’t too late – the Florida heat comes quick around here and is brutal to some of the plants.
It is one of the greatest joys of parenthood to watch your child learn, develop, and experience things for the first time. The capacity of such a little brain is amazing. Trey has a wonderful personality. Everyone that meets him notes how happy he is. Of course, everybody has their moments, but I do agree that he is a pretty happy little guy. Even when traveling for nearly 3 weeks straight, he did great. His smiles are definitely contagious. He plays the drums (with fairly good rhythm), makes silly faces, laughs uncontrollably, dances (especially when he wants to watch the muppets sing “menomena” on the computer), and spins around when either William or I return home.
