People often comment on how good Trey is during the day. “Does he ever cry?” they ask. The answer – “Yes!”. Here a video of our typical naptime routine in the afternoon. After seeing the signs that Trey is tired (resting his head on the ground, rubbing his eyes) we put him in his crib to go to sleep.

Dying and leaving our child orphaned isn’t exactly something we like to think about on a regular basis. In fact, we try not to think about it at all. However, death and dying is a fact of life and we have a responsibility to Trey to make sure he is taken care of in the event of such a tragedy.
This past week we finally got around to creating 4 documents every parent should have.
A Last Will and Testament
A Living Will
Power of Attorney Appointment
Legal Guardianship over Trey
The process isn’t all that difficult, it is just time consuming. Luckily, I have a friend who is an attorney and he helped us wade through the sea of legal-mumbo-jumbo to get these documents taken care of. I feel it is definitely worth the cost of an attorney because they make sure it is done right, explain everything thoroughly to you (and give you some important advice and warnings), and they take care of having the appropriate witnesses and notary present at the signing. Trey has been walking for over a month now and we realized we haven’t put any footage of him on the web. Here are some clips that show his evolution from crawling to getting enough confidence (and motivation) to trek across a room on his own two feet.
Trey and his grandfather have really bonded over sessions at the piano. He loves pressing individual keys and then banging on several at once. Perhaps we have a young Mozart on our hands?
Trey turns 9 months today. Wow – where does the time go? In 4 weeks, I will be returning to school, and daddy will take over. I’m praying for a smooth transition for all three of us. Half days at the clinic haven’t been very difficult so far, but full days may be another story. I know that God will give me the strength when the time comes. Anyway, enough about me, more about Trey!
He weighed in this morning at 16lbs, 12oz and he was 28.5 inches long. (That’s the 5th percentile for weight and the 50th for height.) He’s a long and skinny little squirt, but his legs are solid muscle. He doesn’t stay still long enough to add many of those cute little baby rolls. When he is awake, he is crawling, pulling himself up, or walking. Even in the bath, he loves to stand up (which gives my arms a workout trying to keep him from falling.) Today, he stood up all by himself, with only the help of a small toy. His balance is improving everyday, so he is able to walk further and further before plopping down on his diaper-cushioned bottom. He has also learned to pivot — a necessary move to avoid collisions with Buster. Tonight before bed, he had the best time squealing and laughing as he walked around the house. He definitely loves his new-found mobility. Continue reading ‘9 months – The Mommy Update’
