III + III = Fun (part 2)

Several months ago, Payton Torrence III (whom we like to call Payton Jr. Jr.) paid a visit to his pal Trey. This past week he dropped in again. This time the boys were much more interactive and decided to beat up on each other a bit. Here’s a photo of Trey wailing on Payton.

Visiting Uncle Charles and Aunt Jean

My grandmother’s sister Jean and her husband Charles are snowbirds who live just 20 minutes north of us in the winter. You may recognize them from a video I did several months ago where they helped tell the story of my father’s birth. Trey paid them a visit and showed off his new “sit by myself” skills. I showed off my “eat home cooking ’til my belly bursts” skills.

Where’d My Daddy Go?

Daddy with a beard
I haven’t shaved for the past 2½ months and some folks told me that Trey wouldn’t recognize me when I do. I don’t quite buy into that theory because I’m sure he knows my voice, eyes, and even smell. But we decided to take photos during my transformation to see if there was any effect on Trey. You judge for yourselves…

Daddy?

This is weird

Get me away from this guy!
“Get me away from this stranger! I want my Daddy!!!”

Backwards

The past few days, Trey has been trying very diligently to get his knees under him and to get some sort of mobility going. Poor guy. He does well with the push-up and will even get his legs moving, but pushes himself backwards and somehow he ends up further away from the toy he is trying to reach than when he began. One of these days he’ll figure it out. I guess now is the time to start baby-proofing.

Trey Pays Dawn a Visit

Trey and Dawn Vasquez

Trey and Heidi hung out with her friend (since Kindergarten) Dawn who will be having her first baby boy any day now.

“That’s Good…”

You won’t believe it, but Trey said his first words the other day. After he finished his breakfast, he put his head back and looked up to me and said: “That’s good…” It wasn’t exactly the proper pronunciation of the words…I mean, the “th” sound was still difficult for me to say correctly when I was 6 years old. With Trey’s cute little smile and look of utter contentment, that must have been what he said. At least, I believe it.
